Mysore/Mysuru: The Karnataka Rajya Vijnana Parishat in association with Mysuru Science Centre and Vijaya Vittala PU College, recently celebrated World  Pi (22/7 in numericals) Day at the College premises in Saraswathipuram here  recently.

Speaking after inaugurating the event, the Parishat’s Convenor R. Anantharamu said that though Pi is not directly used nor openly applicable in our daily life, Pi is very much part of Maths, Science and Technology.

Pointing out that Pi is a Mathe-matical constant (22/7) and a very unique fractional number, he said that teachers should strive for eradicating the notion that Maths is a hard nut to crack. Stressing on the need for instilling confidence among students, he observed that students will indeed find Maths a lot easier and interesting if they think logically.

Noting that students should develop concentration as it is very important in learning, he said that Maths is very much part of our life and called upon the students to study Maths upon developing interest in the subject.

Vidyavardhaka Engineering College Maths faculty Prof. Sriraj said that everything in life is measured in numbers. Learning Maths will be lot more easier if one studies with concentration and determination. He advised the students not to use calculator too much. Many  issues of modern day life stand on the foundation of Mathematical Sciences, he said adding that S. Ramanujan, the great Mathematician, has brought fame to the country through his outstanding capabilities.

H. Satyaprasad of Vijaya Vittala PU College, who presided, called upon the students to understand the importance of Maths in today’s scientific and technological advances.
