Mysuru, Oct. 21 (BLU&TRR)- Sixteen social and sports organisations of J.P. Nagar in city felicitated Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif this morning for his role in Mysuru being ranked the 3rd cleanest city under the Super Swachh Cities category among second-tier cities in the country.
The MCC Commissioner was felicitated with a shawl, garland and traditional peta at the MCC Council Hall, alongside Shravani, who has been selected to play for the Indian Basketball Team from the Puttaraja Gavai Stadium at J.P. Nagar.
Speaking at the felicitation, former MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev lauded the Commissioner’s contributions toward keeping the city clean.
“It is MCC Commissioner who prepares the plan of action for civic workers for the entire year. I am confident that next year, under the leadership of Shaikh Tanveer Asif, Mysuru will surpass Indore — which has held the number one spot for the last seven years — to become the cleanest second-tier city in India,” said Rajeev.
Commissioner Asif, addressing the gathering, emphasised the role of citizens in maintaining cleanliness. “Apart from keeping their homes clean, citizens should also cultivate the habit of keeping their surroundings tidy. Garbage should be segregated into wet and dry waste and handed over to the city’s 350 garbage collection vehicles, which operate daily. For scientific disposal of waste, we must strictly follow the three Rs — Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle,” he said.
The felicitation function was attended by former Mayor B.L. Bhyrappa, former Corporator K.V. Mallesh, MCC Health Officer Dr. Venkatesh and several other dignitaries.
The 16 organisations are: H.V. Rajeev Sneha Balaga, Lions Club J.P.
