Rakesh of Mandya with 7.5 points from eight rounds clinched the title in the Open section in the Mysore District Open Monthly Rapid Chess Tournament-2017 conducted by MDCA at the University Lions Hall premises here yesterday.

Pavan (6.5 points) and Krishna Murthy (6 points) (both from Mysuru) secured the second and third places respectively in the Open section. The prizes to the winners were given by IM M.S. Thejkumar.

Trophies and certificates were given to the winners in all the sections (Open, U-15, U-12, U-9).
