Sir,
The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) intends to make the city more beautiful by creating median strip gardens (SOM dated Dec.18). Many readers have commended the idea.
As it is, almost every day, we are having a number of road accidents. Instead of focussing on cruising, people are looking this way and that way, while talking over their mobile phone, with the engine on. Hereafter, their focus will be on the attractive creepers and flowers. Thus, such attractions will automatically result in more distraction, causing more accidents. Should we aspire for it? This is a very serious matter.
Growing plants in pots in the public is a very costly affair. Furthermore, the plants will not have enough freedom to grow (against nature). Also, stealing the pots will be a routine affair.
The whole idea is ill-conceived and constitutes a wasteful expenditure. It is, therefore, advisable that MCC abandons the very idea itself. Just grow grass in the median strips. There will be enough
