Mysore/Mysuru: Miscreants have allegedly cheated a 48-year-old man of Rs. 1 lakh on the pretext of giving Saudi Arabia currencies at a lesser price.
The man, who has been cheated is Asgar Pasha, a resident of Mohammed Sait Block in Lashkar Mohalla here.
On Oct. 16, Asgar, went to a market to purchase groceries where a person, who was selling handkerchiefs introduced himself as Shakeel Sait to Asgar and told him that he had currencies of Saudi Arabia, which he was willing to give for a lesser price, to which Asgar replied positively.
Later, Shakeel called Asgar over the phone and told him that he would give the currencies if he (Asgar) comes with Rs. 1 lakh cash. Believing him, Asgar along with the cash, took his wife Asma Begum along with him near Santhemala, as told by Shakeel.
On reaching the spot, Asgar made his wife sit near a shop and saw that Shakeel had come with another person. They then took Asgar near Hootagalli, took Rs. 1 lakh cash and gave a bag to Asgar telling him to open it when he reaches home and left the spot.
Asgar, who came to the place where he had left his wife, opened the bag only to see newspapers in it and lodged a complaint. Vijayanagar Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
