Miscreants snatch gold chain from woman in Mandi Mohalla

April 6, 2025

Mysuru: After making a futile attempt to snatch the gold chain of a woman, who was sweeping in front of her house on Veeranagere Road in Mandi Mohalla, the scooter- borne chain snatchers in just 15 minutes managed to snatch a gold chain from a woman walker on Ratan Singh Road in the same locality on Friday early morning.

In the early morning of Friday, two miscreants on a white coloured scooter, attempted to snatch the 40-gram gold mangalya chain from 37-year-old C.N. Shilpa, who was sweeping in front of her house on Veeranagere Mantap Road in Mandi Mohalla at about 6.25 am.

As Shilpa held on to her gold chain and screamed for help, the scooter-borne chain snatchers sped away. Though the gold chain broke into two pieces, both the pieces remained with Shilpa as she had held them tightly.

In just 15 minutes time, the chain snatchers were successful in snatching the 35-gram gold chain of 53-year-old Lalitha, who was walking on Ratan Singh Cross Road in the same locality at about 6.45 am. When Lalitha screamed for help, public gave a chase to nab the chain snatchers but in vain as the chain snatchers sped away via Sawday Road and Old RMC Junction.

According to the complaint, the chain snatchers, who had come on a white coloured scooter were about 25 years old. While the rider was wearing a red, white and blue coloured pullover T-shirt, the pillion rider was wearing a red jerkin.

Separate cases have been registered at Lashkar and Mandi Police Stations. Mandi Inspector Nagesh and staff conducted a spot mahazar and have collected footages from CCTV cameras installed in and around the spot of crime besides launching a hunt to nab the chain snatchers.
