Mysore/Mysuru: Suttur Mutt has organised a flute recital by Vid. Shashank Subramanyam on Jan. 3 at Suttur Mutt premises in the foot of Chamundi Hill at 6 pm as part of its monthly moonlight music programme.
Vid. Shashank Subramanyam, a native of Rudrapatna in Arkalgud taluk, Hassan district, learnt Karnatak vocal from Vid. Palghat K.V. Narayanaswamy and Hindustani vocal from Pt. Jasraj. A self-taught flautist, he has received several awards including Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and highest cultural award from France.
He has also featured in ‘Destination Music’ documentary produced by BBC. An ‘A Top’ artiste of AIR, Vid. Shashank is a recipient of Kalaimamani Award by Tamil Nadu among others.
He will be accompanied by Vid. Nishanth Chandran on violin, Vid. Arjun Kumar on mridanga and Vid. G.S. Ramanujam on ghata.
