To ease payment of property tax, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) came with an innovative idea of affixing a QR code at each property and the property owners were eager to scan and pay the tax, which in turn was an utter flop. While the system was not foolproof, why did the MCC resort to this by spending huge tax payers money.

Now the online property tax collection has begun and of course, this is less time consuming, say maximum of 5 minutes to pay the property tax. The hitch here is that once the tax is paid online and receipt generated, the payer cannot go back to get his details of tax, for his reference and the server only can produce the receipt for the amount remitted. This needs to be set right and tax-payers should be able to obtain the challan details. This year, a new cess is introduced, namely cemetery cess of Rs. 150.  Why this cess? Have the Corporators concerned given nod to it?  If so, has MCC ascertained the number of deaths and usage of crematorium/ cemetery per household? If not, this cess seems ridiculous and I request MCC to have a relook at this and avoid this in future payments.

Earlier we used to make enquiries at MCC but now with online system, we are forced to pay without any second option.
