Mysore/Mysuru: Activists of Mysuru Kannada Vedike staged a protest in front of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) main office on New Sayyaji Rao Road here this morning, demanding the shifting of MCC Main office to old Deputy Commissioner’s office, which has now fallen vacant.
The protesters, led by Vedike President S. Balakrishna, said, following the decision of the State Government to upgrade MCC to Greater MCC, the existing premises will prove too short to accommodate the growing demands. Be it the Council Hall, vehicle parking lot, number of Corporators, all are set for increase in space and numbers. So, before the old DC’s office falls into decay, the MCC main office should be shifted there, by restoring the prominent heritage building.
The decision to shift MCC Main Office to old DC’s office, if came into fruition, shall prove significant in the wake of the Government’s decision to demolish and rebuild Lansdowne building and Devaraja Market, two among several such heritage structures in the city.
Nala Beedhi Ravi, Bogadi Siddegowda, Gurubasappa, Palace Babu, Chamaraju Mandakalli, Gopi, Madappa, LIC Siddappa Swamy, Mahadeva Swamy, Cheluvaraya Swamy, Chinnappa, Shivugowda, Govindaraju, Harish, Swamy (Guide), Sunil and others took part in the protest.
