MP clarifies on list of delegates

June 15, 2022

Mysore/Mysuru: Following a confusion on the list of delegates who will be participating in the International Day of Yoga (IDY) at Mysore Palace along with PM Narendra Modi, MP Pratap Simha said that the list has not yet been finalised.

Speaking to presspersons here yesterday, he appealed to the public not to heed to the rumours doing rounds in social media.

Pratap Simha, in his recent statement had said that only CM Basavaraj Bommai, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, Union AYUSH Minister and District In-Charge Minister will be on the dais along with PM Modi, which had drawn criticism from the netizens.

Following this, the netizens launched an online campaign questioning whether the titular head of erstwhile Mysore Royal Family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar will get an opportunity to share dais with PM Modi.

The campaign ‘Namma Mysuru, Namma Hemme, Namma Maharajaru’ has been launched for not inviting Yaduveer. The poster read “We don’t want Yoga Day in Mysuru without Yaduveer. There is no place for anyone from Mysuru on dais. What is the need to conduct the programme here?”

The MP, reacting to the online campaign, has clarified that the list of dignitaries is being prepared. “When I said there was no place for others, I meant the elected representatives. The final list will be decided in the next two days. Mysore Royal family legacy is worldwide. They carry the pride of introducing Yoga at Mysuru back in the olden days. Holding a programme without the members of the royal family is a rumour,” he said and added that Yoga Day is not a political programme but a programme which brings pride to the city.
