Music Concert at Mysore Vasudevacharya’s residence

Mysore/Mysuru: Vidu. Sridevi Josyula, a seasoned vocalist now settled in Houston, will be presenting a Karnatak vocal concert at the residence of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Mysore Vasudevacharya in city on Sunday (Dec. 7).

She will be accompanied by Vidu.  S.A. Divyashree on violin and Vid. Vishal Setlur on mridanga. The concert, scheduled to start at 10.30 am, is open to all music lovers. [Mob: 98802-55920]

Profiles: Vidu. Sridevi, hailing from a family of musicians, was initiated into Karnatak Vocal by the influence of her father, Rekapalli Srinivasa Murty, a musician, writer and composer of Karnatak music. She received her formal training from eminent Gurus V. Srirama Murthy, P. Bapu Rao and V.V.L. Narasimha Rao. She has learnt Annamacharya and Ramadaasu compositions from Sangeetha Kalanidhi Nedunuri Krishnamurthy. Currently she is taking advanced training from Vid. Malladi Suribabu.

She has performed in various music organisations and temples in India. She has been giving thematic concerts and special concerts in the United States at cultural organisations for the past 25 years. A graded artiste in AIR, Sridevi is actively involved in the propagation of Karnatak music, especially among the second-generation immigrants.

Vidu. Divyashree, a disciple of Dr. Mysore Manjunath, has worked as a music instructor in the Prenavam Music Academy and in the Global Indian International School, Singapore. She continues to train students from across the globe and has been providing violin accompaniment to senior musicians during the past several years. She is currently working as a Broadcast Assistant at Akashvani, Mysuru.

Vid. Vishal, whose distinguished career spans over 15 years, received initial training from Ramesh Srinivasan, from the school of Sangeetha Kalanidhi Vellore G. Ramabhadran. He is currently pursuing advanced training under Guru S.V. Ramani. Vishal has served as a seasoned mridanga accompanist for numerous high-profile vocal and instrumental concerts, performing across the Bay Area and, more recently, throughout the greater Houston, Dallas and Austin regions.
