Exams of 54 PG Departments to be conducted at Moulya Bhavan, Manasagangothri, from current academic year 2025-26
Mysore/Mysuru: In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the University of Mysore (UoM) has decided to conduct the Post-Graduate (PG) exams of 54 various Departments under one roof, at its Moulya Bhavan (Evaluation Bhavan) in Manasagangothri campus.
The new concept is effective from this academic year 2025-26, doing away with the practice of conducting exams of PG courses at the respective departments. The second and fourth semester PG exams have already begun on July 3, with a total of 4,500 students appearing for the exams in two different sessions, said UoM Registrar (Evaluation) Prof. N. Nagaraju.
The idea behind this novel concept is to bring in a sense of fulfilment among students by writing exams under one roof. Besides, the students will imbibe a sense of discipline. In the previous system, when the exams were being conducted at respective departments, the teaching faculty of the same departments were doubling up as invigilators. Now, in the new system, the faculty of other departments shall be deputed as invigilators.
Apart from saving time, the new system notably reduces excess expenditure for UoM, as earlier the staff had to visit the respective departments daily and collect the answer scripts. The new system has brought a reprieve to the students too, who have been lauding the move of the Varsity authorities.
