National High-Speed Rail Corporation to submit Detailed Project Report

Bengaluru: The State Government will soon convene a high-level meeting to discuss land acquisition for the high-speed rail corridor between Mysuru and Chennai via Bengaluru.

Infrastructure Minister V. Somanna told reporters in Bengaluru on Friday that the Centre recently asked National High-Speed Rail Corporation to submit a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to implement the project.

The ambitious project was conceived in 2014. The proposed bullet train will take about three hours to cover 485 kilometres from Mysuru to Chennai. Currently, trains take 8-9 hours. “The Centre has given the green signal to prepare the DPR for Karnataka’s first bullet train project on the long-awaited Mysuru-Bengaluru-Chennai route. We have decided to identify land and finalise modalities for land acquisition,” he said.

It is a line to be built at a cost of Rs. 1.15 lakh crore. The State Government will provide the required land for the total project. “There is a proposal to build the corridor along the 10-lane highway between Bengaluru and Mysuru. We’ll discuss it at the meeting,” he added. While the State Government has to provide land, the Centre will bear the entire project cost,” Somanna said.

After the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train, the Centre is ready to connect the major cities of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. If this project is implemented, it will be possible to travel from Mysuru to Bengaluru in 45 minutes and from Bengaluru to Chennai in two hours.

“Before the State Government acquires land for the project, a Memorandum of Understanding has to be signed between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu that will facilitate land acquisition in the neighbouring State,” he added.

He said works on nine new rail lines, including Munirabad-Mahbubnagar, Tumakuru-Rayadurga, Chikkamagalur-Belur and Tumakuru-Davanagere, are on and the State Government has released Rs. 1,600 crore for them.

“All these lines are expected to be ready for operation in two years,” he added. On the demand for more trains between Bengaluru and Hosur, he said since the 22-km Yeshwantpur-Channasandra and 42-km Byappanahalli-Hosur stretches are single lines, running additional trains is not possible.

    Wait for more Tamils arriving and settling in Mysore city. They will be joined by Malayalees too with the expansion of the Mysore airport which will bring Malayalee crime barons from the UAE< when Doha-Mysore non-stop A320 air route comes into play. More gold smuggling and many more Malayalees to administer the gold distribution as well as the Hawala money channel, which the above Malayalee crime barons in the UAE are expanding rapidly into Mysore. Well done, MP Simha for your Hassan-Kodagu-Kerala highway to bring in the Malayalee influx to Mysore city-should I say Greater Mysore?
    Mysore is already full of non-Mysoreans. Start learning Tamil and Malayalam fast!

  2. Non-Anti Tamilian says:

    What are you actually scared off? Diversified India or loss of your self esteem? When Malayalees and Tamils come there weearn your language and treat you with respect. Try giving respect. It does hurt to try or do.

  3. koppal boregowda says:

    @non_tamilianI..
    You appear that you are either a Tamil and Malayalee, a fanatic tribe, who do not learn Kannada. In your state, you never let any one else to come_ I have not seen a Kannada daily sold in Chennai or Trivandrum.
    Look at how Tamils in Bangalore have never learned the language even after 2 generations of settling.
    We need to give ShivSena treatment to you, when Tamil started speaking their own language in Matunga and were beaten.
    Despicable person.
    BTW, learn English first.

  4. Naresh says:

    @boregowda Sir,
    Do you mean all mysorians are fluent in English? And Tamilians are lagging to cope up with you guys? Tamilan speak their language does that bother you? In Chennai sowcarpet is occupied by Hindi Marwadis they are speaking only Hindi have you ever heard a news they were attacked by tamils? In what world you believe Kannadigas who work in other state are behaving better than migrated workers in your state.?

    Grow morally, rationally before growing intellectually.

    In Indias history, lingustic minorities are got attacked by native mob only in Maharastra and Karnataka.

    Now tell me who are morans?

  5. manikantan says:

    Atleast Govt insist to give job for localities so that outside state settlers can be avoided, moreover implement Kannada a compulsory language in education in all boards if child failed to pass in kannada no promotion to next class, this to be applicable for even in graduation, professional college. When in neighbouring states can give importance to their state language and localities why not in Karnataka

  6. Rajesh says:

    This project would help them not to settle here. As a matter of 2 hrs journey from Chennai to Bangalore.
