Nadabrahma Sabha to celebrate 69th Anniversary this weekend

Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha will celebrate its 69th Anniversary, an endowment in memory of Dr. A.K. Gopalarajan, sponsored by fraternity of doctors, with a series of programmes this weekend —Jan. 3 and 4 — at its premises on JLB Road.

Jan. 3 – 6 pm: Dr. Nagamani Srinath will be awarded ‘Nadabrahma’ title and a cash award instituted by Vid. Chitraveena N. Ravikiran in honour of Digvijaya Nadavani Nadabrahma Vidya Varidhi Gottuvadyam Narayana Iyengar for Musical Excellence.

Prize distribution for Nadakishorotsava 2025 winners — Prizes sponsored by Dr. K.V. Lakshmidevi, K.V. Umadevi and K.V. Sarala S. Kumar in memory of parents K.V. Venkateshayya and Girijamma:

1. Dattaprasad Avadhooth – Nadakishora title, 1st prize and Best Male Vocalist (in memory of Bellary M. Venkateshachar sponsored by Bellary M. Raghavendra)

2. R.S. Manoj – 2nd prize and Best Male Vocalist (in memory of Bellary M. Venkateshachar sponsored by Bellary M. Raghavendra).

3. G. Soorya – 3rd prize.

4. Ankush Kadaba – consolation prize.

5. Rupanagudi Ratna Teja- Best Violinist.

6. Skanda Bharadwaj – Best Mridangist.

The Award Ceremony will be followed by ‘Devi Vaaggeya Vaibhava,’ a musical concert conceived and directed by Dr. Mysore Nagamani Srinath.

Participating vocalists are Dr. Uma Kumar, Pavani Bharadvaj, Anjali Sriram, Bhagyalakshmi and Chaitra Raghunandan; Instrumentalists are Aditi Krishna Prakash, Smitha Srikiran, Deepika Srinivasan and Bhagyalakshmi M. Krishna.

Jan. 4 – 6 pm: Smt. Rukmini Ammal and Sri Ramaswamy Iyengar Memorial  concert sponsored by Madhuri Thathachari will be presented by Dattaprasad Avadhooth (vocal) with Rupanagudi Ratna Teja on violin and Skanda Bharadwaj on mridanga.

Dattaprasad Avadhooth is an upcoming singer who hails from a musical background Ganavaridhi Vidu. Kalavathy Avadhooth and his grandfather being Sangeetha Kalaratna Vid. Bangalore K. Venkatram and his grandmother being Gamaka Kala Kogile Vidu. G.R. Jaya. His father is D. Avadhooth who is a great connoisseur of music and a great Dattopasaka.

He is currently learning under his mother and Vid. Udupi Gopalakrishnan and is undergoing voice culture training from Abhijit Shenoy. He is also learning mridanga from Vid. H.S. Sudhindra.

Dattaprasad is known for having participated in Zee Kannada SaReGaMaPa Little Champs where he reached the semifinals and recently, SaReGaMaPa Championship series where he was a finalist.

Born on Dec. 8, 2003, he has performed at prestigious organisations. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and is pursuing his Master’s in the same and wants to research  relationship between Music & Psychology. He has also narrated the holy Sripada Srivallabha Charitaamritham in English in a series of chapters on his YouTube channel and has sung various Marathi Abhangs for the same.
