Mysore/Mysuru: Sri Nadabrahma Sangeetha Sabha will celebrate its 69th Anniversary, an endowment in memory of Dr. A.K. Gopalarajan, sponsored by fraternity of doctors, with a series of programmes this weekend —Jan. 3 and 4 — at its premises on JLB Road.
Jan. 3 – 6 pm: Dr. Nagamani Srinath will be awarded ‘Nadabrahma’ title and a cash award instituted by Vid. Chitraveena N. Ravikiran in honour of Digvijaya Nadavani Nadabrahma Vidya Varidhi Gottuvadyam Narayana Iyengar for Musical Excellence.
Prize distribution for Nadakishorotsava 2025 winners — Prizes sponsored by Dr. K.V. Lakshmidevi, K.V. Umadevi and K.V. Sarala S. Kumar in memory of parents K.V. Venkateshayya and Girijamma:
- Dattaprasad Avadhooth – Nadakishora title, 1st prize and Best Male Vocalist (in memory of Bellary M. Venkateshachar sponsored by Bellary M. Raghavendra)
- R.S. Manoj – 2nd prize and Best Male Vocalist (in memory of Bellary M. Venkateshachar sponsored by Bellary M. Raghavendra).

The Award Ceremony will be followed by ‘Devi Vaaggeya Vaibhava,’ a musical concert conceived and directed by Dr. Mysore Nagamani Srinath.

Jan. 4 – 6 pm: Smt. Rukmini Ammal and Sri Ramaswamy Iyengar Memorial concert sponsored by Madhuri Thathachari will be presented by Dattaprasad Avadhooth (vocal) with Rupanagudi Ratna Teja on violin and Skanda Bharadwaj on mridanga.
Dattaprasad Avadhooth is an upcoming singer who hails from a musical background Ganavaridhi Vidu. Kalavathy Avadhooth and his grandfather being Sangeetha Kalaratna Vid. Bangalore K. Venkatram and his grandmother being Gamaka Kala Kogile Vidu. G.R. Jaya. His father is D. Avadhooth who is a great connoisseur of music and a great Dattopasaka.
He is currently learning under his mother and Vid. Udupi Gopalakrishnan and is undergoing voice culture training from Abhijit Shenoy. He is also learning mridanga from Vid. H.S. Sudhindra.
Dattaprasad is known for having participated in Zee Kannada SaReGaMaPa Little Champs where he reached the semifinals and recently, SaReGaMaPa Championship series where he was a finalist.
Born on Dec. 8, 2003, he has performed at prestigious organisations. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and is pursuing his Master’s in the same and wants to research relationship between Music & Psychology. He has also narrated the holy Sripada Srivallabha Charitaamritham in English in a series of chapters on his YouTube channel and has sung various Marathi Abhangs for the same.
Conferring of ‘Nadabrahma’ title on Dr. Nagamani Srinath
Prof. G.N. Nagamani Srinath is an internationally reputed Karnatak classical vocal musician. She is a multifaceted personality, a combination of a teacher, educationalist, composer, author, organiser, administrator, director and philanthropist. She has served in the field of art for over the past six decades and is an ‘A Top’ artiste of AIR and Doordarshan.

Gold medals for academic excellence, titles, awards, appreciation, citations and laurels have followed throughout her career for her outstanding contributions, few of them being Central Sangeet Natak Akademi Puraskar (First Karnataka lady Artiste for Karnatak Music), Ganayogi Panchakshari Gawai Rashtreeya Prashasti (First artiste to receive this highest National Award from Karnataka Government for Lifetime Achievement), Rajyotsava Prashasti & Sangeeta Kalacharya – Madras Music Academy.
She is an internationally reputed musician, who started performing solo concerts at a very young age of 9. She has performed all across India and abroad including USA, Canada, UK, UAE, Singapore, Australia, Malaysia and many more countries and has chaired and performed at numerous prestigious Conferences and Festivals.
She served as Professor and Head of the Department of Music at Government Maharani’s College in Mysuru and Jain University in Bengaluru for over 40 years.
She is a composer of more than 200 kritis. Furthermore, she has authored many books. Presently, she is an Executive Board Member of Central Sangeet Natak Akademi.
