ADC asks officials to ensure smooth conduct of event

In the context of Sri Srikanteshwaraswamy Dodda Jathra Mahotsava to be held from Mar. 31 to April. 11 in Nanjangud, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) T. Venkatesh has asked the authorities concerned to make necessary preparations.

Presiding over a preliminary review meeting held on Thursday at Dasoha Bhavan in Nanjangud, Venkatesh pointed out that the polling for the Nanjangud by-election will be held on Apr.9 and officers and staff of Nanjangud would be deployed for poll duty.

He asked the officials to ensure that the Jathra Mahotsava go on without a hitch and if need be officers and staff from other taluks would be deployed for the Jathra provided the District Administration was requisitioned well in advance.

Continuing, Venkatesh said that permission for new donors to distribute prasadam to devotees during the Jathra should be given only after a thorough scrutiny as model code of conduct was in  force in the context of the by-election.

He asked the Temple Executive Officers to install surveillance cameras at important places as the Jathra would attract a lot of people and campaigning was also on for the by-poll. He asked the officials to get the roads traversed during Rathotsava repaired, provide good lighting, maintain cleanliness around Temple and provide good potable water to devotees.

Venkatesh asked Irrigation authorities to increase the water flow in Kabini River to benefit the devotees and ensure that the water was not wasted. He asked the Fire Brigade to station two fire tenders and adequate personnel on Rathotsava Day.
