Mysuru: A three-day National Conference on “Issues and Challenges of Teachers and Teacher Educators in Rural, Remote and Tribal Areas” has been organised from July 2 to 4 in city.
The meet, organised by Regional Institute of Education (RIE), Mysuru, a constituent unit of NCERT, New Delhi, and the Inter-University Centre for Teacher Education (IUCTE), MHRD, Government of India, New Delhi, will be inaugurated at the A.V. Hall of RIE here at 10 am on July 2.
P.S Krishnan, IAS (retd.), former Secretary, Ministry of Welfare, Government of India, will be the chief guest. Dr. (Flt Lt.) M.A Balasubramanyam, Secretary, Youth Movement, SVYM, will be the guest of honour at the inaugural session.
On July 4, Dr. W. R. Reddy, IAS, Director General, National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Hyderabad will deliver the valedictory address. The guest speakers are Dr. P. K Shivanandan, IAS (retd.), and Prof. Avinash Kumar Singh, NIEPA, New Delhi. Prof. Y. Sreekanth, Principal, RIE, Mysuru will preside.
The meet will discuss and deliberate upon the issues and concerns of Teachers and Teacher Educators working in Rural, Remote and Tribal Areas in Southern States of India and to understand the roles and responsibilities of various institutions such as Tribal welfare department functionaries, SC Welfare Institutions, BC Welfare Institutions, SCERTs, DTERTs, DIETs and CTEs for promoting quality education in these areas.
Resource Persons, Teachers, Teacher Educators and other Educational Functionaries working in the Departments of Social Welfare, Tribal Welfare, BC Welfare of South Indian State University centres, IUCTE and hand-holding Institutions of Southern States may attend.
