Mysuru:  Marking the 57th National Pharmacy Week, Karnataka State Government Pharmacists’ Association (KSGPA) had organised a function at a private hotel in city yesterday.

About 100 pharmacists from various Government Hospitals attended the event.

Inaugurating the programme, Karnataka State Government Employees Association (KSGEA) President H.K. Ramu opined that the role of a pharmacist was also vital like that of a doctor in the treatment of a patient.

He regretted that only 5 lakh Government Pharmacists were employed when the strength needed is 7.5 lakh.

He contended that Government Hospital staff were always at the receiving end despite working with available infrastructure coupled with staff crunch.

Continuing, Ramu urged the State Government to introduce five-day week for its employees as it is being followed in IT/BT companies.

Pratibha Puraskar was presented to children of members of the Association who had excelled in 7th, SSLC and PU examinations during 2017-18.

Pharmacists, who had retired from service last year, were felicitated on the occasion.  

KSGPA Mysuru-Chamarajanagar District President C.L. Somashekar presided.

MMC&RI Dean and Director Dr. C.P. Nanjaraj, KSGEA Working President A. Puttaswamy, KSGPA Hon. President V. Manjunath and State Committee Member S. Manjunath were present.
