Mysore/Mysuru: As part of World Environment Day, Seshadripuram Independent Pre-University College, Mysuru, in association with its NSS and NCC units, had organised a webinar on the topic ‘Reimagine, Recreate and Restore’ on June 5. 

“Nature has enough to satisfy everyone’s need but not everyone’s greed,” asserted Nadoja Dr. Wooday P. Krishna, Hon. General Secretary, Se-shadripuram Educational Trust, Bengaluru, delivering the inaugural address. He highlighted the disconnect of humans with nature and asked the students to be the change they wish to see. Remembering Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Wooday insisted on simple and satisfied living.

Resource person Dr. M.K. Saptha Girish, a renowned naturalist from Bengaluru, spoke about the importance and objectives of Environment Day. He also threw light on endangered species and emphasised about Reimagine, Recreate and Restore. He stated that it is the duty of the humans to use their power meticulously to nourish nature and not destroy it.

Keynote speaker Gubbigudu Ramesh, State NSS  Coordinator, NSS Cell, Pre-University Board, Bengaluru, spoke about the influence of technology in making humans forget nature and the fellow beings. 

Mamatha Prasad, Care Taker NSS Officer, Delhi Public School, Mysuru, the other keynote speaker, expressed her concern about lack of understanding of humans in damaging nature which cannot be done without damaging self. She further stressed on the 3Rs — Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. 

N. Archana Swamy, Principal, Seshadripuram Independent PU College, welcomed. S. Kiran, lecturer in Biology, proposed a vote of thanks. The programme was attended by the college teaching fraternity and students.
