Mysuru: Mohammad Sharif Rawathar took charge as the new Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of the City Crime Branch (CCB), here on Friday. He was handed over the charge by outgoing ACP Sandesh Kumar.
Later, speaking to Star of Mysore, Rawathar said, he would first take note of the situation, the progress of the pending cases and complaints, and work accordingly.
“CCB’s prime focus is to detect cases. Accordingly, I will work under the guidance of senior officials and will also take all subordinates into confidence,” he said.
A native of Madikeri in Kodagu district, Sharif Rawathar is the elder brother of Karim Rawathar, who was Dy.SP (Mysuru South Rural Sub-Division). Before being transferred to Mysuru City CCB, Sharif served as Dy.SP CID (Bengaluru). He joined the Karnataka State Police as a Sub-Inspector in 1999 and served in the North Karnataka region. Following his promotion as Police Inspector, he was posted at Bengaluru Central Crime Branch, Mangaluru, Hebbal Police Station, Vyalikaval Police Station, Sadashivanagar, Special Branch and VVIP Security in Bengaluru.
