New Ticket Counter at Ashokapuram Railway Station remains closed

July 28, 2025

Sir,

A new Ticket Counter was opened after inauguration of the second Terminal at Ashokapuram Railway Station for those coming from Western side and also nearby residents for easy travelling and also walking from 1st to 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th Platforms.

Now people need not walk through foot overbridge from 1st Platform towards the 3rd or 4th etc.

But it is unfortunate that the new Ticket Counter is not kept open most of the times. It was closed on July 24 at 8.11 am and the Malgudi Express departs at 8.20 am from 4th Platform.

Just imagine the inconvenience caused to old and disabled persons — to walk from the new Western side entrance and go to 1st Platform through foot overbridge and return to 4th Platform through foot overbridge and to board Malgudi Express.

Why is the SWR Divisional Railway  Manager (DRM) not giving surprise visits and also collecting data as to how many tickets are sold out from each counter. This counter has remained closed for the 5th time or 6th time in the recent past.

If that particular person is not present for duty at the counter, any alternative is not done for issuing tickets. Day by day, people travelling from Ashokapuram Railway Station is increasing, but SWR Mysuru officials are not looking into this problem. Hope the DRM will take suitable action.

I also request our MP Yaduveer Wadiyar to intervene in resolving this issue immediately.
