Mysore/Mysuru: National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Beckhoff Automation Pvt. Ltd., recently.
Beckhoff, headquartered in Verl, Germany, is a pioneer in PC based automation systems. The product range covers Industrial PCs, I/O and Fieldbus Components, Drive Technology and automation software.

The ‘NIE-BECKHOFF Centre for PC based Automation Technology’ (NBCPAT) was inaugurated online by Jitendrakumar Kataria, Managing Director, Beckhoff Automation Pvt. Ltd., India, on July 14, 2021.
The MoU is the culmination of continuous interaction and collaborative work facilitated over the last four years by Ajey Pathak, Head of Marketing and Business Development, Beckhoff Automation and Dr. K.R. Prakash, Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, NIE.
NBCPAT will provide state-of-the-art knowledge and training on PC based automation technology to the students of Mechanical,Industrial Production,Electrical,and Electronics Engineeringof NIE.
The Centre is equipped with Desktop PCs, Beckhoff Industrial PCs, Embedded PCs, PLC & Motion products like Remote I/O Modules, Servo Motors-Drives, Stepper Motors, and various Twin CAT software licenses. In the coming days, more automation components, such as, Sensors, Actuators, AC motors, VFDs, etc., will be acquired, which are essential for interfacing with I/O Modules & Motion control modules.
One of the major agendas for NBCPAT is to encourage new Product Development. It will enable students to develop products, under Made by India – A motivating theme envisioned by BECKHOFF India called ‘Beckhoff enabling Made by India.’
Beckhoff will facilitate internships and student projects in top notch automation companies. Students become industry ready before they are placed. Beckhoff will refer competent students, trained on their proprietary platform, to industries who need TwinCATtrained engineers, according to a press release from Dr. N.V.
