Mysuru: Alemari and Are Alemari (Nomads) tribes should fight for their rights to have their own sites and houses and the only way they can do it is to build houses on the 75-acre gomala land they have occupied in Ekalavya Nagar, said Progressive Thinker Pa. Mallesh.
He was speaking at an event organised jointly by Karnataka Samyukta Alemari and Budakattu Samudaya Okkuta in association with Karnataka Rajya Niveshana Rahitara Horata Samiti at Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan in the Social Welfare Department premises on Adipampa Road, this morning.
He said that nomads should understand that the land that they have occupied does not belong to anyone and hence they should start constructing houses instead of living in huts there and demand for khatas. “If the government objects to it, then Karnataka Rajya Niveshana Rahitara Horata Samiti will come forward to support them,” he assured.
This can be achieved only if there is unity among the Alemari and Are Alemari groups and the cause for which they are fighting can be won only if they all unite. “The most important thing that you should understand is to have self-respect,” he exhorted the nomads.
Earlier, the nomads took out a procession from Mathrumandali Circle to Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan. The Karnataka Rajya Niveshana Rahitara Horata Samiti District Committee member M. Uma Devi, Advisor Ramananjappa Aldalli, Convenor Chandrashekar Methi and others were present.
