One killed, Channabasava Wadiyar Mutt Seer seriously injured in car-bus mishap

T. Narsipur: One person was killed while Sri Channabasava Wadiyar Mutt Seer has been seriously injured, when the car in which they were travelling rammed into a private bus on NH 212 near Alagudu yesterday evening.

While the deceased has been identified as Nanjundaswamy (51), son of late Jayappa of Purigali village in Malavalli taluk, the seriously injured Seer identified as 35-year-old Sri Shivakumara Shivacharya Swamiji of Sri Channabasava Wadiyar Mutt in Purigali village, is undergoing treatment at JSS Hospital in Mysuru.

It is reported that the Swamiji and the deceased Nanjundaswamy, had been to Chamarajanagar for a puja and were returning to the Mutt via T. Narsipur in a Tata Indica car (KA 09 N 8956) when it rammed into a private bus Sriranganatha (KA 11 B 8888) from behind near the T.Narsipur-Vatal village turning.

The impact was so severe that the roof of the car was detached and was found lying in the bush on the roadside. As Nanjundaswamy was sitting in the front, the glass pieces of the front windshield of the car pierced his  neck killing him on the spot. The Seer who was behind the wheels and suffered serious injuries was rushed to the General Hospital in the town, where he was provided first-aid and later shifted to JSS Hospital in Mysuru for further treatment.

Inspector Manoj Kumar and staff visited the spot and conducted an inspection. SI N. Anand and ASI Doddegowda have seized both the vehicles and have taken further action.
