Mysuru: Tension prevailed on D. Devaraj Urs Road for some time when the owner suddenly entered the shop he had rented out and threw the things out and locked the shop. The incident occurred last night.
The owner of the shop Kodandaram had rented out the shop to Dayashankar and Rajesh.
They were running the business under the name of Sumangali Silks and paying a monthly rent of Rs.28,000.
A few months ago, both the owner and the tenants had agreed for a hike in rent and it was fixed for Rs.30,000, it is said.
However, Kodandaram saying that others in the vicinity were paying more rents had not agreed and demanded double the rent. But the tenants were not ready to pay double the rent.
Last night there was heated exchange of words between the two. Kodandaram, who was enraged, got about 10 of his associates, stormed into the shop and threw the sarees and other materials on the road and locked the shop. As a result, tense situation prevailed in the area for some time.
Devaraj Police, on receiving information, reached the spot, dispersed the crowd, brought the situation under control and took both the owner and the tenants to the Police Station and registered a case after investigation.
