Police inspect Pavitra’s house; seize clothes, slippers she wore on the day of murder

Bengaluru: Acting swiftly in the Renuka Swamy murder case, the Police have now taken Pavitra Gowda’s manager, Devaraj, into custody.

Devaraj was detained on Mysuru Road and is currently being interrogated. It is said that on the day of murder, Devaraj, along with Pavitra, went to the shed where Renuka Swamy was killed. After attacking Renuka Swamy, Pavitra went straight to her house. When she allegedly attacked him, he fell at her feet and apologised for his misdemeanors.

According to the Police, Pavitra was the first to hit the victim with her sandals on June 9, the day of the murder.

Meanwhile, the Police have arrested another suspect in the murder case. S. Girish, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), who is overseeing the investigation, confirmed the arrest of Raju alias Dhanraj this morning.

Raju was named as accused number nine in the first remand application submitted by the Police to the Magistrate.

Pavitra’s house searched

Pavitra Gowda was taken by the Police for a spot inspection at her residence in Rajarajeshwari Nagar on Sunday afternoon.

Police also took the third accused, Pavan, who was a worker at her house, for the inspection.

The officials, along with the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, examined the two-storey building for about two hours and seized the clothes she was wearing on the day of the incident and the sandals she allegedly used to beat the victim.

Pavitra has been staying at the house for the last 10 years, while Pavan was given accommodation in a room on the ground floor. Both Pavitra’s residence and Pavan’s room were checked by the Police.  While being taken out of the house, Pavitra and Pavan were seen smiling, while curious neighbours stood on the balconies and outside their houses watching the developments. The accused duo was then taken to Annapoorneshwari Nagar Police Station after the inspection.
