Five percent rebate offer extended till June 30
Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has collected Rs. 150 crore in Property Tax between April 1 and May 31 for the financial year 2025-2026, taking advantage of the 5 percent rebate facility offered to early taxpayers.
Initially, the State Government had announced the rebate only for the month of April, which alone saw collections touch Rs. 90 crore. However, in a move aimed at benefiting more property owners, the rebate period was extended until June 30.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, MCC Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Somasekhar said officials are expecting an additional Rs. 50 crore in collections during the remainder of the rebate period. The overall target is to collect Rs. 250 crore, and authorities are closely monitoring taxpayer response to the initiative.
To streamline the process and improve public convenience, MCC has set up temporary shelters, seating arrangements, and additional counters at all zonal offices. Staff members are actively assisting citizens by providing information and support, which has contributed to a positive response from the public, Somasekhar added.
