18th Graduation Ceremony of Cauvery Group of Institutions held

Mysuru: In all, 413 students were conferred various degrees at the 18th Graduation Ceremony of Cauvery Group of Institutions, Dr. Chandrashekar Education Foundation near Alanahalli Outer Ring Road in the city recently.

The graduates who received various degrees included 128 Nursing students, 38 St. Alphonse Nursing, 68 from Physiotherapy, 144 from Allied Health Sciences and 35 Pharmacy students, totalling 413 students.

Vice-Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Dr. B.C. Bhagwan, distributed Gold Medals and degree certificates to 60 students who secured ranks in various Departments.

In his address, Dr. Bhagwan said, the health sector not just includes doctors, but also nurses, medical and diagnostic centres staff. If the doctors in hospitals function like brain, the nurses are like heart of the hospital.

“There is a requirement of 20 lakh nurses across the world, that ensures 100% job opportunity. There is also a good demand for health sciences services too and the nurses and other medical staff play a major role in the hospital,” said Dr. Bhagwan.

With the aim of providing quality service in the health sector in the coming years, the RGUHS is offering 11 Nursing courses including lab technician  course, he added.

Lauding Cauvery Group of Institutions for producing talented students by imparting skills to them, Dr. Bhagwan highlighted the responsibility of every medical staff to handhold the patients from the path of darkness to light by making them healthy. So, the degree holders should give priority for both learning and service, he said.

Delivering the valedictory address, former VC of University of Mysore Prof. K.S. Rangappa said, Nursing, Health Science and Physiotherapy are considered as the backbone of health sector. Cauvery Group of Institutions  is producing manpower for those fields, thus doing its mite in addressing the lacunae in them.

There is a growing demand for health care in the world, generating the need to develop medical tourism hubs. Similarly, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) have come in handy in identifying cancer, heart ailments and neurological disorders in advance, he said.

“The students should not just focus on obtaining a degree, but also to contribute towards providing health service to the society,” added Prof. Rangappa.
