Rangavalli Ranga Sambhrama: Three-day Theatre Festival from today

Mysuru: City’s theatre troupe Rangavalli has organised a three-day theatre festival ‘Ranga Sambhrama’ at Kiru Rangamandira, Kalamandira in city from Dec. 6 to Dec. 8.

Speaking at a press meet at Patrakartara Bhavan yesterday, troupe convenor Manjunatha Shastry informed that cultural programmes will be held followed by a play, which will be staged from 7 pm onwards on each day.

On Dec. 6 at 4 pm, Senior stage artiste and actor Sharath Lohitashwa will open the theatre festival at Maneyangala. Assistant Director of the Department of Kannada and Culture H. Channappa

will preside over the event. Rangayana Joint Director V.N. Mallikarjuna Swamy will be the chief guest. Nadamani Nalkuru and team of Bantwala will sing Tatwapadas at 5 pm following which Heggodu NiNaSam repertory’s Tirugata troupe will be staging Girish Karnad’s last play Rakshasa-Tangadi, directed by Venkataramana Aithal at 7 pm.

On Dec. 7, Bharat Brass Band, Mysuru, will present Band Bachao at 4 pm followed by staging of play Karna Sangatya directed by Ganesh Mandarti at 7 pm.

On Dec. 8, Hindustani vocal recital by Anirudh Aithal, accompanied by Pandit Bhimashankar Bidanur on tabla and Deepak Nagannanavar on harmonium at 4 pm. Rangavalli troupe, Mysuru will be staging Parshwa Sangeeta, a play based on writings of Srinivasa Vaidya, directed by Prashant Hiremath at 7 pm.

From Dec. 6 to Dec. 8, water colour portraits of artist A.R. Manjunath will be displayed from 11 am to 6 pm at the venue. For details, contact Mob: 94488-71815, according to a release.
