Mysuru: Asking the people of the State to throw away the ‘Commission Government,’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here yesterday that the State needs a ‘Mission Government’ under the BJP to ensure all-round development. Addressing a mammoth BJP rally — Parivartana Yatra — at Maharaja’s College Grounds, Modi said that the State will continue to suffer and be looted as long as the Congress stays in office.
Maintaining that the Congress has ruined the State and people will teach them a lesson in these elections, the PM alleged that the State failed to use its funds as their priority is to keep Delhi bosses warm to save their chairs.
Recalling his ‘10 percent Sarkar’ jibe against the State Government at a rally in Bengaluru earlier this month, Modi sarcastically said that his comments had made people angry.
“I received calls and people sent me messages that it is not just 10 percent, but much more,” he said.
Accusing Siddharamaiah of dividing the society and misguiding people ahead of the Assembly polls, the PM said that NDA Government has drawn up a plan to ensure there are no homeless families in the country by 2022.
Pointing out that his Government was keen to fast-track the country’s progress, he alleged that the Congress was acting like ‘speed bumps’ on a highway.
Relentlessly attacking the Congress, Modi accused it of leaving four crore families of the State struggling to make a livelihood despite ruling for five decades.
Asserting that the NDA Government wanted to build a ‘Nava Bharat’ in which no family would be shelterless, he asked the people to remove hurdles that choked development.
Urging Mysureans to unseat the Congress Government in the forthcoming Assembly polls, Modi said it was his mission to take Karnataka forward.
Reiterating his call to the people to replace the ‘Commission-driven Congress Government’ in the State with a ‘Mission-driven BJP Government,’ Modi in his 50-minute speech in Hindi, urged party workers to reach out to all households with an appeal to vote for the BJP in the Assembly elections.
Stepping up his attack on the Congress, Modi said Governments are Constitutionally obliged to work towards progress but the Congress which ruled the country for more than 50 years had moved in the opposite direction.
Claiming that the Centre’s Mudra Yojana had provided loans to crores of people without any bank guarantee, he said that the Centre is committed to ensuring every family a house by 2022.
Alleging that the Siddharamaiah Government was knee deep in corruption, with scams and irregularities emerging every day, the PM said that the responsibility of punishing the corrupt rested on the people of Mysuru, as those who have ruined Karnataka are from Mysuru and have become a blot on its people.
Modi invokes Kannada pride to counter Siddu
PM Narendra Modi like his election speech earlier this month in Bengaluru, started and ended his speech in Kannada in Mysuru.
“Mysurina nanna preetiya Bandhu Baginiyare, nimagella nanna namaskaragalu. Chamundeshwari Matege nanna pranamagalu. Mysuru Arasaru, Sir M. Visvesvaraya, Rashtrakavi Kuvempu, Sutturina Swamiji, Sri Balagangadharanatha Swamiji avarantaha mahanubhavarige nanna namanagalu,” he said to a roar from the crowd.
Recalling that Mysuru was the land of silk, sandalwood, Dasara, Jasmine and Mysore Pak, Modi, after his address in Hindi, concluded his speech in Kannada, repeatedly urging the people to vote for BJP in the forthcoming Assembly polls. The PM’s long Kannada narrative is seen in political circles as a move to counter CM Siddharamaiah’s penchant to invoke Kannada pride.
