Mysore/Mysuru: Golfer Vidhatri K. Urs from Mysuru, who represented India in the 43rd International Queen Sirikit Cup 2023 Golf, was conferred Rotary Mysore Midtown – Wekreate Sports Award-2022-23, at a ceremony held at Rotary Hall on JLB Road in city on June 14.
Vidhatri, who secured second spot in the team category, individually finished 19th in the tournament. After receiving the award, Vidhatri said: “I started playing golf at the age of six. Gradually, I started participating in State-level competitions and now I am proud to have represented the country at international level too.”
“Age is no bar for achievement, but the decision we take should be better. I could achieve due to the blessings of my mentor and want to win more medals for the country,” said Vidhatri.
In his opening remarks, Rotary Midtown Vice-President Rtn. Rakesh said: “Our organisation is in the forefront in identifying and honouring achievers. Those feted here have also scaled further heights.”
Chief guest Dr. Usha Hegde, Professor and HoD, Oral Pathology and Microbiology, who is an ‘Iron Man Achiever,’ said: “It is a matter of joy that Vidhatri has achievements at such a young age. I wish that she brings more laurels in the coming days.”
Vidhatri is the proud daughter of Kantharaj Urs, Managing Director of Urs Group of Companies and Ramya Urs, residents of Lakshmipuram in Mysuru.
