S. Syed Abdul Azeez (85), retired Chemistry Professor at Yuvaraja’s College, Mysuru, passed away on Dec. 16 at his Bengaluru residence.
He leaves behind two daughters, sons-in-law and a host of relatives and friends. Namaz-e-Janaza and burial took place on the same day at Khudus Saab Makan in Bengaluru.
Mr. Azeez was my Chemistry lecturer at Yuvaraja’s College while I was studying PUC. Somehow I was his ‘teacher’s pet’. I was contesting for an executive member post from PUC.
The election was on a Saturday when no classes were held. I was in ‘A’ section (Kannada second language) and my opponent was from ‘C’ section (Sanskrit, Urdu, etc. second language). Students must be really interested in coming to the collage to vote. Mr. Azeez announced a special class to our section (really there was no need). Our section students came (for the class) and voted for me! Needless to say that I won. We never talked about the election.
He was very good to me and I enjoyed his classes and I scored very well in PUC Chemistry.
May his soul Rest In Peace.
