Maleyanda Arun Poovaiah, a Badminton player of International repute, came out with sterling performance at the selection trials conducted by Karnataka Badminton Association, Bengaluru, to select Karnataka State Masters Badminton Team to participate in the National Masters Badminton Championships to be played at Mapusa, Goa, from Mar. 21 to 24 by winning gold in Men’s Singles, Mixed Doubles and being Runners-up in Doubles.

He is also six times National Champion, Bronze (Sophia, Bulgaria) and Silver Medallist (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) at Senior World Badminton Championships.

A native of Nelji, close to Napoklu in Kodagu, Arun Poovaiah is presently based in Bengaluru and is involved in coaching budding Badminton players.
