Mysuru: Well-known writer from Kalaburagi Mahantappa Nandur has been selected for the prestigious ‘Sri Shivarathreeshwara Award’ for the year 2019, in recognition of his work titled ‘Arive Pramaanu – Akka Nagamma Jeevana Kavya.’ The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 25,000 and a citation.
Hailing from Pattana village in Kalaburagi district, Mahantappa Nandur worked as a lecturer for some period, before joining the Railways, where he is currently serving as a senior official.
Writing has been Nandur’s passion. He has many works to his credit, including prose, poetry collections, articles etc. Many of his works have been published in books, magazines, newspapers, digital media etc., His Kavya Vaachana programmes have been broadcast/ telecast in Akashavani, Doordarshan,YouTube and other social media networks.
Among the many awards and prizes he has won, include Dr. D.S. Karki Poetry Award, Amma Award, Mohana Kuradagi Poetry Award, Betadur Foundation Award of Gulbarga University and Rajyotsava Award.
Sri Shivarathreeshwara Religious Endowment Award was instituted by Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Swamiji in 1986 and the award is being given every year for the best works published.
