Mysuru: The MUDA, already entangled in controversies over illegal site allotments under the 50:50 scheme, is now facing criticism from the general public and sports achievers who have been waiting for years for site allotments.
At a press conference held at Pathrakartara Bhavan in city recently, International Chess Coach A.P. Ajit revealed that MUDA had invited applications from 188 sports achievers in 2023 for sites in Devanur Layout 3rd Stage. Applicants, including Ajit, paid 10 percent of the total site price — Rs. 2.9 lakh for a 60×40 site — 22 months ago, only to be left waiting without any progress.
“Despite multiple visits to MUDA, no official has provided any concrete response other than suggesting I take a refund of the amount paid,” Ajit alleged.
Athlete Ravi, another applicant, shared a similar plight. He paid an advance of Rs. 1.6 lakh for a 30×40 site but remains in limbo. Ravi criticised MUDA for allowing applications under the ‘H’ category from across the State instead of restricting them to Mysuru, leading to 488 applications being filed.
“Of the 488 applications, only 188 were deemed eligible, yet not a single deserving sportsperson has been allotted a site,” he said. The delays and lack of transparency have left both sports achievers and the general public disillusioned, further tarnishing MUDA’s reputation.
