Bengaluru: Satisfied with the success of its ambitious ‘Gruha Arogya’ scheme, which was introduced on a pilot basis in Kolar district, the State Government has planned to extend the scheme to the entire State from February this year.
The scheme, which is aimed at conducting health check-up at the doorsteps of the people, was launched at Kolar in October last year, with medical teams comprising doctors, visiting the houses in rural areas on a priority basis and then houses in urban areas, for carrying out a health check of the residents.
As per the scheme, a medical team will visit every household in its assigned jurisdiction and carry out a health check-up of all occupants aged over 30 years.
After check-up, the team will distribute BP and diabetes tablets to those suffering from the ailments for free, that are enough for one month. The team, after some days, will again screen the residents for improvement in their ailments and will provide the tablets for a further period, if found necessary.
The team will conduct the health checks every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, visiting at least 15 houses a day.
The Taluk Health Officers will monitor the implementation of the scheme in their respective taluk and report to the District Health Officer (DHO) on a daily basis. Oral cancer, cervical cancer and breast cancer screening are also included in the health check-up under the ‘Gruha Arogya’ scheme.
The Health Department is geared up for ensuring the success of the scheme by providing necessary training to medical personnel and stocking medicine kits in adequate quantity.
