Mangaluru: City’s chess players taking part in the Karnataka State U-17 and U-14 (boys & girls) chess championships 2017-18, are faring well in the tournament being held at Mangaluru.
After seven rounds in the Boys U-17 section city’s Abhi Nayak s has secured 5.5 points and is placed 9th in the ranking. Mohith Aradhya has secured 5 points and is placed 14th in the ranking.
In the U-14 boys section, Raju Prasad has secured 5 points from seven rounds and is placed 22nd in the rankings. Yashwanth has secured 4 points and is placed 40th in the ranking, while Niranjan Hegde has secured 4 points and is placed 45th in the rankings.
In the U-14 girls section, Mysuru girl Hemadri Satish has secured 5 points from nine rounds and is placed 19th in the rankings. K. Kanika Gowda has secured 4.5 points and is placed 34th in the rankings.
After seven rounds, D. Vinutha of Shivamogga is in the lead with 6.5 points. She is followed by K. Deepthi Lakshmi (DK) with 6.5 points and P. Dhanyashree of Hassan with 6 points.
