Mysore/Mysuru: “Students must focus on their careers as the present world is moving on a fast pace with competitions increasing in every field,” said Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, Additional Chief Secretary to the Karnataka Government.

She was speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the training camp for aspirants of KAS and other competitive examinations organised by the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Competitive Examinations Training Centre at KSOU’s Cauvery auditorium, Muktagangothri,  here recently.

“Students must have clarity about their goals. While, training helps in personality development, it is important to be in pursuit of opportunities. It is encouraging that an increasing number of girls are attending training classes to face competitive examinations,” she said and added that there was a significant difference between the present time and the time when she appeared for the competitive examination. Presently, there are number of training  classes and study material is available. However, it also important to remember that whatever learnt in colleges and universities might not be directly useful for the examination,”  she said.

Observing that the present generation is witnessing many changes in learning and training, she noted that more books are now available in libraries. “Spending  more time in libraries, following  a timetable are important. While some people get through the competitive examination the others don’t. Most important is to have a Plan B,” said the senior IAS officer.

A book titled ‘Mukta Bhandara’ was released on the occasion.
