Tackling cybercrime and boosting financial literacy

MoU signed by Karnataka Police Academy and Postal Training Institute

Mysore/Mysuru: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to combat cybercrimes was signed and exchanged between the Karnataka Police Academy, Mysuru and the Postal Training Institute, Mysuru, on July 19.

This collaboration between a premier training institution for Police officers in the State and a renowned centre for training postal department personnel aims to facilitate cross-training, the exchange of resource persons and the development of innovative courses for officers of both institutions.

Under the MoU, trainees from both the Police and Postal Departments will benefit from enhanced subject knowledge and exposure to innovative practices relevant to their respective fields.

Officers from the Postal Department will receive training from Police Department experts in areas such as cybersecurity, fingerprinting and tackling drug trafficking. Meanwhile, Police Department officers will gain insights into financial literacy, small investment opportunities, financial management and IT systems used in the postal sector.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ashish Singh Thakur, Director of the Postal Training Institute, Mysuru, said, “The collaboration will be a valuable addition to the knowledge and professional experience of officers from both departments.”

Director of Karnataka Police Academy, S.L. Chennabasavanna, described the MoU as a significant step forward. “The agreement between these two historic institutions is a milestone. It will pave the way for enhanced training of the next generation of officers and ultimately lead to more effective public service. Both institutions will work towards mutual development by sharing best practices.”

Present at the MoU exchange were Assistant Directors of KPA — H.S. Renukaradhya, N. Sudarshan, S. Venkatesh and M. Kranthiraj Vodeyar, Reader in Management, KPA. Representing the Postal Training Institute were Assistant Directors Balaraj, Sridhar, Shraddha V. Gokarna, Manjunatha K. Rao and other staff members.
