Teacher wins National Award

Mysuru: K.N. Nitya, a teacher at Excel Public School (EPS), Mysuru, has won the prestigious Raman Experiential Science Teacher Award-2019 and was honoured at Panchavati, the former home of Sir C.V. Raman on Feb.24.

The Raman Experiential Science Teacher (REST) Award is instituted by the Raman Research Institute Trust and Innovation and Science Promotion Foundation (ISPF) and sponsored by ThinkTac.  Much along the lines of the Raman Young Science Innovator (RYSI) Award, this contest was open to any science teacher in the country seeking innovative entries for hands-on science activities in three categories — Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

The winner prize in each category was Rs. 25,000 and two runners-up took home a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each.

Nitya won the preliminary rounds and was amongst the 60 finalists chosen for the national finals. She chose the topic “Anatomy of Human Body” with the sub-topic “Types of Joints in Human Body.”
