CDC Director Dr. K. Mantelingu inaugurates Teachers’ Skill Development Centre
Mysuru: Dr. K. Mantelingu, Director of the College Development Council (CDC) at the University of Mysore (UoM), has emphasised that every teacher and lecturer must possess love and respect for their profession.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Teachers’ Skill Development Centre set up by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of JSS College for Arts, Commerce and Science on Ooty Road in Mysuru recently.
“Teachers and lecturers must embody the principle ‘Work is Worship’ as advocated by Basavanna. Their role is crucial to the growth and reputation of educational institutions. Discipline and sincerity are essential to mastering the teaching profession,” Dr. Mantelingu noted.
He also advised teachers to avoid wasting time on social media and instead use it wisely for their benefit.
JSS College CEO Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah addressed the gathering. He stated that in addition to developing teaching skills, lecturers must become subject experts. “To achieve this, they must acquire research capabilities and technical knowledge. By adopting new syllabi, they can significantly enhance their teaching effectiveness,” he said.
College Principal Dr. M. Prabhu, IQAC Coordinator Dr. N. Rajendraprasad, Prof. K.N. Manjula from the English Department, Botany Professor Dr. G.M. Sindhu and 190 teaching staff members were present.
