Mysore/Mysuru: Devaraja Police have cracked the recent serial theft of shops on D. Devaraj Urs Road in city with the arrest of two burglars.
The arrested have been identified as Syed Mohammad Faizal alias Ismail alias Nadeem, 23, a resident of Bengaluru and Junaid Ahmed, 26, a resident of Sultan Palya Main Road, R.T. Nagar, Bengaluru. Police have recovered Rs. 1.15 lakh cash, garments worth Rs. 1 lakh, an Innova Car used for committing thefts and rods used for braking open shutters, from them.
Acting on a tip off, a team of Devaraja Police, which had camped in Bengaluru, picked up one of the suspects from Bengaluru’s Majestic area and another from R.T. Nagar a couple of days ago.
During interrogation, the two confessed to have committed burglary at Levi’s, U.S. Polo and Pepe Jeans garment shops on D. Devaraj Urs Road and another garment shop at Agrahara in K.R. Police Station limits, following which the Police recovered Rs.1.15 lakh cash, garments worth Rs. 1 lakh, an Innova car and cutting rods used for the crime, from them.
One of the arrested Syed Mohammad Faizal is said to be an habitual offender, with more than 10 burglary cases registered against him. Faizal, along with his associate Junaid Ahmed, used to target shops that had glass doors and commit burglaries in the night, according to the Police.
The nabbing and recovery operation was carried out by Devaraja Police Inspector Prasanna Kumar, PSIs Raju and Leelavathi, ASI Udaykumar and staff Somashetty, Venugopal, Suresh, R. Nandish, Pradeep and Veeresh Bhagevadi, Technical Unit Inspector Lolakshi and staff Manjunath, Kumar, Shyam and Gurudev Aradhya and Finger Print unit’s Venkatesh and Rajini, under the guidance of DCP Geetha Prasanna, Devaraja ACP M.S. Shashidhar and Finger Print ACP Rajashekar.
