Mysore/Mysuru: Burglars broke into two shops at Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC) at Bandipalya near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) junction on Mysuru-Nanjangud Road and decamped with sacks of rice from one of the shops, yesterday night.
While the burglars have broke opened the shutter of a shop at ‘A’ block of the market yard, to find a negligible sum of amount in the cash box, which is reportedly left untouched, they made away with about 10 to 15 sacks of rice, from another shop on ‘C’ block. The thieves had brought a goods vehicle, in which they fled away with the booty, said a Police source.
While the Police have been investigating the case on the basis of Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) camera footage, obtained from the cameras installed by the traders at the shops’ premises, most of the CCTV cameras installed by the APMC in whole of the yard, have gone defunct.
With the civil works underway near the main entrance of APMC facing Mysuru-Nanjangud Road, the backside gate, which leads towards old Uttanahalli Road, is most accessed by the traders and customers. The CCTV cameras installed at this gate too have gone kaput, with the security guards manning the same in shifts.
Mysuru South (Rural) Police visited the spot. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
