Mysuru to host the event for the fifth time

Bengaluru: “The 83rd Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana will be held in Mysuru from Nov. 24 to 26,” said Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Manu Baligar, here  on Tuesday.

Addressing press persons at Kannada Sahitya Parishat premises here, he said that the decision to host the event in Mysuru was taken during the Executive Committee meeting and added that decision on the events would be taken in the month of October.

Manu Baligar mentioned that the three-day event would be held either in Mysore Palace premises, Maharaja College Grounds or Dasara Exhibition Grounds.

Speaking about the choice of the Sammelana President, Manu Baligar added that the person to head the 83rd Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana would be elected in days to come.

He also added that three stages including a main stage would be erected at the venue and said that efforts will be made to organise a successful event similar to that held in Raichur last year.

Speaking to Star of Mysore, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna said that Chief Minister Siddharamaiah had given his consent to attend the event on the inaugural day and added that a decision on Sammelana President and programmes would be taken during State Executive Committee meeting to be held in the days to come.

Mysuru to host the event for the fifth time: Mysuru will play host to the Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, to be held in November this year, for the fifth time.

The city for the first time had hosted the 3rd Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana during 1917 under the Presidentship of H.V. Nanjundaiah. This was followed by 16th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana during 1930 and Alur Venkataraya was the President, 37th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana during 1955 under the Presidentship of Dr. Shivaram Karanth and 60th Akhila Bharata Kannada Sahitya Sammelana under the Presidentship of ‘Premakavi’ K.S. Narasimhaswamy during 1990.
