Three killed in accident on Mysuru-T.Narasipur road

Mysuru: Three persons including two women were killed when a speeding goods auto collided against a parked truck on the Mysuru-T.Narasipur Road in the wee hours of today. While one woman died on the spot, the other woman and the man died at the K.R. Hospital.

The impact of the accident was such that the front portion of the auto was smashed and ripped apart. The mangled remains of the seats and crumpled front portion of the vehicle were smeared in blood.

Three persons, including the driver of the auto were injured and the condition of one woman is said to be critical.

According to the Police and eyewitnesses, the TATA Ace Super goods auto (KA-55-6470) started from T.Narasipur at around 4 am and due to mist, the driver did not see the truck (TN-36-V-7899) parked by the side of the road at Kempaiahnahundi Gate. The people in the auto were coming to Mysuru to buy vegetables and return to T.Narasipur to sell them.

The victims have been identified as Mahadevamma (60), wife of Narasimha Nayaka, Basamma (60), wife of Basava Nayaka, both residents of Srirampura in T.Narasipur and Raghu (25), son of Basavaraju and a resident of Kyathamaranahalli. While Mahadevamma was killed on the spot, Basamma and Raghu died at the K.R. Hospital.

Goods auto driver Somashekar and two more occupants of the auto Radhakrishna and Rathnamma have been grievously injured. Rathnamma’s condition is said to be critical. Police and eyewitnesses said that it was a daily routine of the victims to come to Bandipalya Market in Mysuru and buy vegetables. At the break of dawn, they would return to T.Narasipur and sell the vegetables and earn a livelihood.

Today, the victims had occupied the front seat as it was cold. T.Narasipur Circle Inspector Manoj Kumar and Sub-inspector Anand visited the spot and have seized the truck and the autorickshaw.
