Tiger cub found dead

Hunsur: A three-month-old female tiger cub was found dead at D.B. Kuppe Range in Nagarahole National Park recently.

It is learnt that the cub had got separated from its mother.

Project Tiger Director Manikantan and Veterinarian Dr. Umashankar visited the spot and conducted the post-mortem.

The reason for the cub’s death is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, a five-year-old elephant calf was injured when a car hit the calf.

The elephant calf, which belongs to Shankarapura Camp in Anechowkur Elephant Camp on Hunsur-Gonikoppal Road was let out for grazing and when the calf was crossing the road to return to the camp in the evening, a speeding car rammed into it injuring the calf seriously.

The car has been completely damaged in the incident. Veterinarian Dr. Umashankar provided treatment to the calf.  

Ponnampet Police have registered a case in this regard.
