Mysore/Mysuru: As part of its continuous quality initiatives and commitment to social responsibility, IQAC of St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru, in collaboration with Mysuru City Traffic Police, organised a Traffic Awareness Programme on Jan. 17 in the College Indoor Stadium.
Rev. Fr. Lourdu Prasad Joseph, Rector and Manager of the college, presided. Dr. Ravi J. D. Saldanha, Principal; Rev. Fr. Jnana Pragasam, Administrator; Rev. Fr. David Sagayaraj S., Assistant to the Rector; and Mr. Ronald Prakash Cutinha, Vice Principal (Administration) and Mr. A. Thomas Gunaseelan, IQAC Coordinator were present.
Shivashankar, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mysuru City Traffic Police, who was the chief guest, emphasised the importance of traffic discipline, responsible driving and adherence to traffic rules to ensure road safety. He also highlighted the role of educational institutions in shaping socially responsible citizens and administered an oath to the students and the staff.
Resource persons from N.R. Mohalla Police Station — Rekha Bhai, Police Inspector; M.L. Siddesh, Police Sub-Inspector; and Mahaveer, Police Sub-Inspector — conducted engaging and informative sessions on traffic regulations, common violations, road safety measures, and preventive strategies to reduce accidents.
The event was co-ordinated by the IQAC under the leadership of A. Thomas Gunaseelan, IQAC Coordinator, with the support of Dr. V. Deepa, IQAC Co-Coordinator.
