Traffic Police Stall opens in Dasara Expo

Mysuru: City Police Commissioner K.T. Balakrishna on Friday inaugurated the ‘Mysuru City Traffic Police’ stall in Dasara exhibition premises.

Speaking on the occasion, Balakrishna said that the stall has been set up with an objective of educating the motorists on road safety and traffic rules & regulations.

Stressing on the need for the members of the public to be aware of traffic rules and regulations, he underlined the importance of following traffic rules at a time when more and more number of vehicles entering the roads with each passing day.

The Commissioner released a pamphlet that contains the list of revised penalties for various traffic offences on the occasion. DCP (Crime and Traffic) B.T. Kavitha, ACP (Traffic) G.N. Mohan and other Police personnel were present.

The stall cautions the motorists against wrong vehicle parking, usage of cell phone while riding / driving, helmet-less riding, allowing juveniles to ride / drive vehicles, drunken driving etc.

The stall also carries message on vehicle parking, ban on goods vehicles carrying passengers, ferrying excessive number of children in school van, display of faulty number plates, ban on wheeling on public roads, overloading in goods vehicles, emission certificate for vehicles and a host of other traffic rules.

Replicas: The stall also features replicas of two Traffic Policeman and a traffic violator.

While one Policeman is seen offering a flower to a helmet wearing two-wheeler rider, the other Policeman is seen challaning an helmetless rider, who holds a Rs.2,000 note in hand to pay the penalty.

Traffic equipment: Also in display are a variety of traffic equipment and devices, which include four and two-wheeler wheel-lockers, rechargeable traffic baton, LED light, digital camera, barricading tapes, tree reflectors, shoulder badge, traffic gloves and jackets, median markers, hand held alco meter, auto display card, blackberry device and printer, parking information boards, mega phone with siren, ABS plastic road humps, emergency folding stretcher, spring post, traffic cones etc.

The stall also features a model of Police Bhavan and the City Police Commissioner’s Office. All the models in the stall were made by artistes Maheshwar and Parameshwar of V-Think Company of the city, who engaged over 20 workers, working day and night.
