Mysuru: A five-day national level training-cum-workshop on Testing & Evaluation and Item writing for the Assistant Professors and Research Scholars in Urdu, was held at National Testing Service-India (NTS-I) of Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru from Feb. 4.
Pankaj Dwivedi, Officer In-charge of NTS-I, introduced the research and academic activities of NTS-I. He emphasised the importance of testing and evaluation for teachers and students engaged in research in Urdu language and literature.
He highlighted the importance of practice in item writing in understanding the concept of testing and evaluation, and said that teacher training is an area of great significance in a country. A teacher must have a thorough knowledge of his/her student skills-potential and to be developed.
Dr. G.M. Ansari, Junior Resource Person-Academic, welcomed. Dr. Md. Saleem Ahmed proposed a vote of thanks. Prof. Meem Noon Sayeed, former Professor of Urdu, Bangalore University; Prof. Abdur Rahman Khan, former Principal, DIET, Mysuru; and NTS-I faculties, Dr. V. Ilangovan, Dr. Biresh Kumar, Dr. G.M. Ansari, Dr. Md. Saleem Ahmed, Dr. Taiyab Ali Khan and Dr. N. Murali Mohana trained the participants along with the external experts.
Prof. D. G. Rao, Director, CIIL, Mysuru, was the overall patron of the workshop. More than thirty Assistant Professors and Research Scholars, who are engaged in teaching/research of Urdu, from various Universities and Colleges of the country attended this training workshop.
