Sir,
Today my relatives, aged 70 plus, approached State Bank of India, KM Puram Branch, Mysuru for linking their Aadhaar number with their respective bank account at the above branch.
Both the Aadhaar numbers of my relatives have only year of birth as per the old format. The bank’s software has complete date of birth in the Aadhaar segment to proceed with linking process. The Manager tried with inserting the date of birth as per the respective PAN card data but could not succeed to link with bank account as the UIDAI data base does not have the date of birth stored since the Aadhaar numbers were issued as per the older format. Please clarify if all those whose Aadhaar numbers were issued with only year of birth, as per older format should mandatorily get it updated with full date of birth so as to be able to link with bank account or for any other purpose?
Secondly, the provision to update one’s Aadhaar with date of birth at any home computer, by uploading the scanned copy of acceptable document has been disabled. This makes a visit to an approved centre a must. And the waiting time is long. Will UIDAI kindly restore this provision to ease the process?
Thirdly, the finger biometric scanning equipment at many of the banks and approved centres do not correctly capture the impression and more time is lost or worse the task itself is abandoned with no alternative. What is the UIDAI suggestion to remedy this issue?
