Mysuru: A two-day Pouranika Ranga Sambhrama, a mythological drama festival organised jointly by the Karnataka Nataka Academy, Bengaluru and Rangachavadi, Mysuru will held on Jan. 24 and 25 at Kalamandira in city.
Disclosing this to media persons at a press meet here this morning, Rangachavadi General Secretary Sangapura Nagaraj said that the event will begin with the performance of ‘Kurukshetra’ drama on Jan. 24 at 12 noon by Mysore-based Sri Rajeshwari Vastralankara Ranga Thanda artistes. The drama will be of three hours duration and entry is free.
The inauguration of the drama festival will be held on the same day at 6 pm by senior theatre artiste and National Awardee Nadoja Belagallu Veeranna will inaugurate. Karnataka Nataka Academy President J. Lokesh will preside. Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture H. Channappa, Academy Members Honnanaik and Journalist Ganesh Amingada will be chief guests.
Nadoja Belagallu Veeranna and K.V. Shankaregowda awardee H.S. Govindegowda will be felicitated on the occasion. Later, Mandya -based Sambarama Mahila Mandali artistes will stage a drama ‘Paduka Pattabhishekha’ after the inaugural function.
On Jan. 25 at 6pm, Bengaluru Kalavidara Balaga artistes will stage “Dasharatha” play.
The valedictory function will be held on the same day. Theatre artiste Prof. H.S. Umesh will preside, Registrar of Karnataka Academy Dr. A.C. Shailaja will be chief guest. Rajyotsava awardee Sarvamangala and other outstanding theatre personalities will be felicitated on the occasion.
